Reconciliation
To be reconciled to God is the universal need of all mankind. Why? Rom 3:23; Col2:13; Eph2:4,5,6
Man can only be reconciled to God through Christ. Col.1:19-22 The result of reconciliation between two parties is peace (the removal of hostilities).
Two fallacies concerning reconciliation are
1) Man can bring himself back into fellowship with God. Many false religions of the
world use this (rotten egg casserole) recipe. Isa 64:6
2) God can adjust Himself to man. This would be like trying to live with an unwilling skunk. God is Holy and unchanging in character. (Hab1:13; Mal.3:6)
God can adjust man to Himself; this is reconciliation 2Cor5:18-19
Man must be willing to be reconciled. 2Cor5:20
God’s adjustment of man to Himself involves Christ’s expiation of man’s sin through
the cross and the imputation of Christ’s righteousness. 2Cor5:21 Both are
necessary for man to be at home with God. 2Cor5:8
Through Christ’s death man is reconciled and God is propitiated (satisfied) Heb2:17
Reconciliation of man to God through the blood of Christ’s cross is the only answer
to conflicting world views. Reconciliation allows man to come out from the
bushes without reprisal. Rom5:10,11
